Once the cable comes off the reel it still has to get into the trench or cable tray, and at these sizes it isn’t going in by hand. So crews come up with something. A custom wheel on a chain, an old car rim, or pushing the cable in with a piece of equipment and hoping the jacket holds up.

Damaged cable is expensive on its own. What’s worse is damage nobody catches, because it doesn’t show up until you’re testing and energizing the run. Finding it then means tracking it down and repairing it with the schedule already working against you.

HOW IT WORKS

A Roller Arm That Picks the Cable Up & Puts It Where You Want It

The Fairlead lifts the cable and guides it in on rollers, wrapped or unwrapped. The reach adjusts out to 15 feet, so you set it to whatever the job needs instead of working around a fixed arm.

Fork pockets and a skid steer quick-attach plate are both built into the same unit, so it runs off whatever you have on site. There’s nothing to convert and nothing to order twice.

The rollers are rated at 6,000 lb (2,720 kg), which easily handles triplexed 1500 MCM (800mm) MV or HV cable with conduit and ground with room left over.

What is the Telovor Fairlead?

What equipment does it mount to?

Do I need an excavator to place heavy cable?

Not with a Fairlead. It runs off equipment that’s already on most job sites, and forklifts and skid steers are cheaper to own and rent than an excavator.

How much weight can it handle?

The rollers are rated at 5,500 lb. It handles triplexed 1500 (800mm) cable with conduit and ground with room to spare, so in practice the limit is whatever machine is carrying it.

Will it damage the cable?

It was purpose built to guide and lift cables. The entire design is built around protecting the cables while it works. It guides the cable on rollers, which is the difference between it and a chain, a wheel or a bucket.

Can it place bundled cable?

Yes, wrapped or unwrapped.

How far out does it reach?

It adjusts out to 15 feet, so you can set it to whatever the run needs. From center of machine (telehandler or skid steer) to center of rollers extended all the way out is around 11’-3” (3.43 m).

What is the biggest bundle it can hold?

The largest bundle dimensions it can lift is 12” x 12” (305 x 305 mm).
